Political advocacy

Influencing politics

Political advocacy, targeted campaigns, and corporate relations serve as the primary tools for realising Project 1882's vision: a world where animals are respected as sentient beings with the right to their own lives. This is achieved through engaging in meetings with politicians from various political parties and at different levels, as well as by highlighting prioritised animal policy issues through other means.

An important part of making the biggest possible difference for the animals is through policy work. Project 1882 works with politics at different levels – municipal, national, global, and EU-level.

Opinion polls

By conducting regular opinion polls, Project 1882 measures the state and shifts in public opinion regarding various animal issues.

Influencing public opinion and shaping people’s values on matters concerning animals constitutes a significant aspect of Project 1882's activities. The polls are carried out by professional analysis and research firms.

Consultation responses

Before the Swedish government takes a stance on a proposal, it is sent for consultation to authorities, organisations and other stakeholders. The feedback received is then incorporated into the decision-making documents that follow the consultation process. Similarly, the European Commission and entities such as The Swedish Board of Agriculture invite interested parties to provide input on proposals through referrals.

Project 1882 leaves comments through consultation responses whenever there is an opportunity to influence policies such as food policy improvements or provide feedback on proposals concerning animal welfare.
